Germany has dozens of kitchen manufacturers. These are the ones you will meet in a UK search, ordered roughly by how commonly they are specified here. The two we supply are marked.
Nobilia

Europe's largest kitchen manufacturer, producing well over 700,000 kitchens a year across two plants. That scale is the reason a genuine German kitchen can start around £6,000: the factory is highly automated, the carcase is a standardised 19mm body, and nBox soft-close drawers and Sensys hinges are fitted as standard across the whole programme. The range runs from textured laminate fronts up to genuine lacquer, honed matt and premium shaker programmes, with a 10 year manufacturer warranty.

A family-owned Bavarian manufacturer known for finish quality and the widest colour offer in the German market. The Colour Concept palette runs to 28 coordinated lacquer shades available across whole programmes, including satin, matt velvet and framed shaker fronts. Blum hardware, 19mm carcases and a 5 year manufacturer warranty are standard on every price group, from laminate Nova up to real oak veneer Rocca.

A large, well-regarded manufacturer with the systemat and classic lines. Strong build quality and a broad UK dealer network. Priced similarly to upper-mid Schüller and Nobilia programmes, though colour choice is narrower than Schüller's Colour Concept.

Löhne · Entry to mid
Another very large German producer, competing directly with Nobilia at the value end. Solid, dependable kitchens with a wide front library, though the interior fittings specification is generally lighter than Nobilia's standard nBox drawer package.
Leicht
Waldstetten · Premium to luxury
Architecturally driven, with an emphasis on material combinations, tall unit walls and integrated furniture. Beautiful kitchens with a price to match, usually sold through design studios rather than direct.
SieMatic
Löhne · Luxury
One of the best-known German luxury names, with the PURE, URBAN and CLASSIC design worlds and a very refined interior organisation system. Expect a multiple of an equivalent Schüller or Nobilia specification.
bulthaup
Aich, Bavaria · Luxury
The b1, b3 and b Solitaire systems are as much furniture architecture as kitchen. Sold only through licensed partner studios, with pricing typically starting where most German kitchens finish.

Schorndorf · Premium
Schüller's premium sister brand, made in the same group with a distinct, more architectural front and material library. Shares the underlying engineering standards with Schüller while sitting a clear step up in price.
Rotpunkt
Bünde · Mid to premium
Known in the UK for sustainability credentials and a strong wood-effect and matt lacquer offer. Comparable in build to upper-mid German programmes.
Rational
Melle · Premium
A specialist in ergonomics and interior planning, with well-executed handleless systems. Lower UK visibility than the volume brands.
Pronorm
Vlotho · Mid to premium
Y-Line and Proline programmes with a good handleless offer and a reasonable price position, though a smaller colour library than Schüller.
Ballerina

Family-run, with a strong classic and country offer alongside contemporary programmes. Well built, less widely distributed in the UK.
Six things that actually separate the brands
Carcase thickness
18mm to 19mm rigid-built board is the German standard. Anything thinner, or supplied flatpack, is not a German-built kitchen even if the brand sounds German.
Hardware brand
Blum, Grass, Hettich or the manufacturer's own equivalent (Nobilia's nBox and Sensys). Soft-close on every door and drawer should be standard, not an upgrade.
Warranty length
Nobilia offers a 10 year manufacturer warranty, Schüller 5 years. Both cover the cabinet and hardware, not fair wear on surfaces.
Colour and finish library
Schüller's 28-shade Colour Concept is the widest coordinated palette in the market. Most brands offer far fewer shades, or restrict them to specific programmes.
Price group structure
Every German brand bands its programmes into price groups. The carcase does not change between them - the front finish does, and so does the cost of every matching panel and plinth.
Route to market
A showroom quote funds display stock and a commissioned sales floor. Factory-direct supply of the same kitchen can be up to 30% cheaper.

- Are all German kitchens made in Germany?
- No. Several UK retailers sell German-styled kitchens made elsewhere, and some brands with German names manufacture outside Germany. Ask where the carcase is produced, what thickness it is, and who makes the hinges and drawer runners. Every kitchen we supply is built in Germany and shipped rigid, not flatpack.
- Are German kitchens worth the money?
- For most UK buyers, yes. A German kitchen is built rigid at 18mm to 19mm, uses hardware rated for well over 50,000 cycles and holds its alignment for decades. Bought factory-direct the price is often at or below a mid-range UK high-street kitchen with a thinner carcase and a shorter warranty.
