An L-shape uses two adjacent walls, freeing the rest of the room for a dining table, a run of tall units or a small island. It suits everything from a 3.5m x 3m rear extension to a 6m x 4m open-plan family kitchen.
Efficient work triangle
The classic sink / hob / fridge triangle sits naturally in an L-shape. Nobilia and Schüller both offer deep-drawer bases, tall larder towers and 90 degree corner solutions (LeMans, Magic Corner, carousel) so no cabinetry is wasted at the junction.
Open-plan friendly
L-shaped runs open the room out rather than boxing it in. Pair one leg with a peninsula or freestanding island for a soft zoning between kitchen and living space, without needing a full U-shape.

- An L-shape works from around 3m x 2.5m upwards. Below that a galley or single-run layout is usually more efficient. Above roughly 4m x 4m an L-shape with an island starts to make sense.

- Yes, and it is one of the most popular layouts we plan. Allow at least 1000mm of clear floor between the L run and the island for two people to pass and for dishwasher and oven doors to open fully.
