Focus is an ultra high-gloss lacquer, and the emphasis belongs on ultra. It is a deeper, clearer, more mirror-like gloss than a standard gloss front, achieved through a multi-layer lacquer build and polish. Held against a conventional gloss door the difference is obvious: the reflection in a Focus front has depth and clarity rather than a slight haze.
Programme 312 offers two colours: Sand Ultra High Gloss (467) and Alpine White Ultra High Gloss (470). Alpine White is the light-maximiser and the one to specify in a narrow or north-facing room. Sand is more unusual and more forgiving, giving a warm champagne cast that softens the whole scheme and works particularly well with brushed brass ironmongery and oak flooring.
The doors are flawless slab fronts with no interruption to the surface, and Focus can be specified in both true handleless and regular handled configurations. Handleless is the stronger choice here, because any handle sitting on an ultra gloss plane fights the surface. If you are considering Focus, be realistic about the finish: an ultra gloss front rewards a household that will wipe it down, and Alpine White hides marks better than any dark gloss.
