Best suited to
- Small, dark or single-aspect kitchens that need light
- Gloss wall units above a matt or timber base run
- Budget-conscious contemporary schemes
- Wipe-clean surfaces in high-use kitchens
Uni Gloss is Schueller's high-gloss lacquer laminate front, and it is the cheapest way in the catalogue to make a dark or awkward room feel bigger. Price group 1, five colours, available handled or handleless. Gloss fronts reflect both daylight and artificial light back into the space rather than absorbing it, and in a galley, a basement or a single-aspect extension that effect is worth more than any amount of clever layout planning.
The colours are Crystal White, Seashell White, Brilliant White, Pebble Grey and Sand Grey. Three whites sounds excessive until you see them together. Brilliant White is the pure, cold white that suits a strictly modern scheme with white quartz. Crystal White is very slightly softened. Seashell White carries a hint of warmth and is the one to choose if you have oak flooring or timber worktops, because a cold white against warm timber can look accidental rather than deliberate. Pebble Grey and Sand Grey give you a darker element without going heavy.
The honest caveat with gloss is marking. A high-gloss surface shows fingerprints more readily than matt, especially around handle zones and either side of the hob. Two practical answers: specify handles or a grip rail rather than push-to-open so hands land on hardware, and consider running gloss on wall and tall units with a matt or timber front at base level where the traffic is. Beyond that it is one of the easiest surfaces to keep clean, since nothing is porous and there is no texture for grease to sit in. Rigid built cabinets, fully assembled delivery and the 5 year Schueller guarantee.
