Schüller vs NobiliaAbout the Schüller Varese range.
Best suited to
- Affordable timber-look tall units and islands
- Warming up a grey, white or black matt kitchen
- Bright rooms where a real veneer would fade unevenly
- Handleless schemes needing a natural material element
Varese is a slim slab front in a synchronised-pore Oak Siena laminate, and the synchronised pore is the whole point. On a standard woodgrain laminate the printed grain and the surface texture are unrelated, which is why your eye accepts it from across the room but your hand immediately knows it is not timber. On a synchronised pore front the embossing is registered to the print, so the open grain you feel lines up exactly with the grain you see.
The single finish, Oak Siena, is a mid-warm oak with visible but not aggressive figure. It is the most useful timber tone in a British kitchen because it sits comfortably against grey and white cabinetry, most engineered stone worktops, and the oak or walnut flooring in the majority of open-plan extensions. At price group 2 it is a genuinely affordable way to introduce timber into a scheme, considerably cheaper than the Rocca veneer at price group 7 and far more consistent from door to door.
Varese is available handled or handleless, so it works either as the full kitchen or, more commonly, as one half of a two-tone specification. Timber tall units flanking an oven bank with a matt front on the base run is a scheme we specify constantly, and it is the single most effective way to warm up a grey or black kitchen. Because it is a laminate it is unaffected by steam from a hob or dishwasher, it will not fade unevenly in a bright room, and it will not need re-oiling. Rigid built cabinets, delivered fully assembled, with soft-close hardware and the 5 year Schueller guarantee.
