Already have a quote? Compare it properly

If you are holding a Nobilia or Schüller quotation and wondering whether it is a fair price, this is the method we use. Six checks that make two quotes genuinely comparable, the four places price gaps usually hide, and a free factory-direct like-for-like figure if you want one.

The method

Six checks before you compare a single number

Two quotations for the same room are almost never for the same kitchen. Line these six things up first and the price difference becomes readable.

01

Pin down the range and price group

Not the colour, the programme. Two quotes described as 'matt grey handleless' can be three price groups apart. Once both quotes name a range, you are comparing the same product rather than the same adjective.

02

Count the cabinets, not the metres

Ask for the unit schedule: every cabinet code, width and height. A quote that is £2,000 cheaper with three fewer tall units and a shallower larder is not cheaper, it is smaller.

03

Separate cabinets, worktops and appliances

Most confusion comes from bundled totals. Split every quote into three columns. Cabinet cost is the only figure that reflects the German factory; worktops and appliances are locally sourced and vary far more.

04

Check the panelwork finish

End panels, plinths and cornices in a door-matched lacquer sit in the door price group. In laminate they are much cheaper but will not match the texture under raking light. This single line explains a large share of price gaps on lacquer kitchens.

05

Read the interior fit-out

Cutlery inserts, pan drawer dividers, corner pull-outs, glass shelving, LED plinth and shelf lighting are separate order lines. A bare interior looks cheap on paper and costs more to retro-fit later.

06

Confirm what is provisional

Worktops before templating and appliances before final model selection are estimates. Ask which lines are held and which can move, then compare only the held ones.

Where the gap hides

Four reasons the same kitchen is quoted at two prices

High street showroom overhead

Display kitchens, retail floor space and commissioned sales all sit on top of the factory price. It is the largest single reason two quotes for identical cabinets differ by thousands.

Discount theatre

A headline 50% off a list price you have never seen is not a discount, it is a starting position. Compare final itemised figures only.

Specification substitution

A cheaper quote occasionally swaps German carcases or Blum hardware for something else. Both Nobilia and Schüller quotes should state the factory, carcase thickness and hardware brand.

Installation in or out

Supply-only versus supply-and-fit are different products. Fitting a mid-size German kitchen properly is a real cost and should never be assumed either way.

FAQ

Comparison questions

Will you price-match a kitchen quote I already have?
We will price the same specification factory-direct, which is usually more useful than matching. Send the quotation or plan and we rebuild it against the factory unit list, then show you line by line where the difference is overhead and where it is genuinely a different kitchen.
Do I need the full quote or just the plan?
Either works. A plan with rough dimensions is enough for an indicative comparison. A full itemised quotation lets us do a true like-for-like, because we can match unit codes rather than estimate them.
Is a comparison free and is there any obligation?
Yes it is free, and there is no obligation. You keep the CAD plan, the 3D render and the itemised figure whatever you decide to do with it.
How much cheaper is factory-direct in practice?
On a like-for-like specification, up to 30% below a typical showroom quotation for the same factory, the same finishes, the same Blum or nBox hardware and the same warranty. The saving comes from removing high street showroom overhead, not from a lesser product.
How long does a comparison take?
Usually two to three working days for a CAD plan, render and itemised specification. Lead time from order to UK delivery is then typically 6 to 8 weeks.
Free like-for-like

Send your quote or plan for a comparison

Attach the quotation, a plan or even a phone photo of a showroom printout. We rebuild the same specification factory-direct and send back a CAD plan, 3D render and itemised figure, with the differences flagged so you can see what is overhead and what is a genuinely different kitchen.

Up to 30% below a showroom quote

Same factory, same finishes, same hardware, same warranty. Delivered nationwide in 6 to 8 weeks.
