Schüller vs NobiliaAbout the Schüller Newport range.
Best suited to
- Coastal, New England and classic country kitchens
- Dresser-style units and tall larders needing texture
- Pale, chalky painted schemes where shadow lines can show
- Buyers wanting a boarded shaker with a handleless option
Newport is Schueller's New England painted shaker, distinguished by tongue-and-groove detailing within the framed panel. It is available in all 28 Colour Concept shades at price group 6, in both handled and handleless configurations, and it is the most decorative front in the catalogue without being fussy.
The tongue-and-groove is the whole character of the door. Vertical boarding inside a framed panel is a detail borrowed from American coastal architecture and English utility joinery, and it introduces fine vertical shadow lines that catch light across the front of the kitchen. On a run of base units it reads as texture rather than pattern, and on a tall larder or a dresser-style unit it gives real depth. It is a detail that photographs beautifully, which is one reason it does well in coastal and holiday properties.
Colour choice matters more here than on a plain front. The pale end of the Colour Concept palette, the soft whites, chalky greys and pale putty tones, allows the grooves to read as delicate shadow. Deeper shades close that shadow up and the door becomes more solid and more traditional, which suits a rural property better than a coastal one. Newport being available handleless is genuinely unusual for a boarded shaker and gives you the option of a very clean interpretation, though cup handles and knobs are the conventional route. Rigid built cabinets delivered fully assembled, soft-close hardware and the 5 year Schueller guarantee.
