Matera Colour is the same deep matt velvet UV lacquer as Matera, with the same anti-fingerprint surface and the same price group 1 position, but the palette is completely different. Instead of neutrals you get six designer colours: Steel Blue, Eucalyptus Green, Orient Red, Cashmere Brown, Sepia Brown and Deep Blue. For anyone who wants a coloured kitchen without stepping up into the lacquer programmes at price group 4 and above, this is the shortest route.
The colours are worth taking seriously rather than treating as novelty options. Eucalyptus Green is a soft, greyed sage that reads as a neutral in most British light and is the safest of the six for a whole-kitchen specification. Deep Blue is a proper navy with enough black in it to avoid looking corporate. Steel Blue is cooler and more industrial. Cashmere Brown and Sepia Brown are the quiet pair, both excellent as a full scheme in a period property. Orient Red is the statement, best used on an island or a tall bank rather than everywhere.
The AFP finish matters more here than on the neutrals, because saturated matt colours are the worst offenders for showing hand marks. With the coating you can specify Deep Blue on a run of base units under a busy hob and still have it look clean at the end of a week. As with Matera, it is a plain slab available handled or handleless, so it works with grip rails, J profiles or bar handles. Two-tone is where it comes into its own: an Orient Red or Deep Blue island against Matera Crystal White perimeter units keeps the whole kitchen in price group 1.
