Classic Matt is a handled framed shaker in matt velvet lacquer with an anti-fingerprint surface, available in all 28 Colour Concept shades at price group 6. It is a combination that sounds contradictory and works extremely well: a traditional door silhouette rendered in a thoroughly modern super-matt finish.
The reason it suits so many British houses is that most of them are neither strictly period nor strictly modern. A Victorian terrace with a rear extension, a 1930s semi with the wall between kitchen and dining room removed, an Edwardian villa with steel-framed doors onto the garden: in all of these a framed door relates properly to the existing joinery, but a hand-painted timber shaker can tip the room into pastiche. The matt velvet lacquer keeps the proportion and the shadow line while removing the period sheen entirely.
All 28 Colour Concept shades are available, and the deeper end of the palette is where Classic Matt is most convincing. A framed door in a matt forest green or a deep charcoal has real presence, and the recessed panel picks up shadow in a way a slab front cannot. The AFP coating is the practical enabler here, because a framed door has more surface area and more edges to mark, and a standard matt in a dark colour on a framed front would look tired quickly. It is a handled programme, so ironmongery is part of the design: aged brass and blackened steel both work.
