Nobilia or Schüller? How to decide.
Six factors that actually change the decision: budget, cabinet quality, finish breadth, style, warranty and lead time. Both are excellent German kitchens; the right choice comes down to how these six line up for your project.
Where Nobilia wins, where Schüller wins.
Nobilia
Strong value at every price point. Look, Laser and Riva (PG 1 to 2) start around £6,000 supply-only; the volume mid range (Structura, Touch, Flash, Senso, Frame, StoneArt) sits £10,000 to £14,000.
Schüller
Slightly higher entry price on a like-for-like specification, offset by the widest colour library in the German market. Entry ranges (Nova, Elba, Bari, Modena) start around £5,000; mid ranges (Cremona, Salona, Fino Matt, Targa) sit £8,000 to £12,000.
Nobilia
Excellent. 19mm carcase throughout, Nobilia nBox metal-sided drawer boxes and Sensys 8-point-adjustable soft-close hinges as standard, DIN 68930 certified. Consistent build across all price groups.
Schüller
Also 19mm carcase throughout, with Blum Legrabox drawers and Blum soft-close hinges as standard on most ranges. Finish tolerances (edge banding, drawer alignment) are noticeably tight in side-by-side comparison.
Nobilia
Wide, around 200 door and finish combinations across the collection. Strongest in matt lacquer, wood-effect, ultra-high gloss and popular neutrals. Twenty Nobilia ranges available.
Schüller
The widest colour offering in the industry through the Schüller Colour Concept, with over 100 painted lacquer colours across the range. Twenty-seven Schüller ranges available including framed shaker, industrial, coastal and painted lacquer.
Nobilia
Contemporary-leaning. Handleless (Riva, Sylt, Pura), integrated grip (Laser, Nordic) and shaker (Frame, Cascada, Sylt) all sit within the same programme. Strong for open-plan and city apartment schemes.
Schüller
Full spectrum from classic shaker (Elba, Casa, Newport) through industrial (Uni Gloss, Lineo, SmartGlas) to premium handleless (Fino Matt, Cameo, Rocca). One supply chain covers most UK briefs.
Nobilia
10-year manufacturer warranty on cabinets and hardware, honoured in the UK through LindenHaus as the authorised importer.
Schüller
5-year manufacturer warranty on cabinets and hardware, honoured in the UK through LindenHaus as the authorised importer.
Nobilia
6 to 8 weeks from signed-off order to UK delivery on the standard programme.
Schüller
6 to 8 weeks from signed-off order to UK delivery. Premium finishes and specialist colours can add 1 to 2 weeks.
If you are still stuck between them.
Choose Nobilia if: you want the strongest value at every price point, a contemporary or handleless look, or a straightforward mid-range family kitchen. Nobilia is the volume champion for a reason.
Choose Schüller if: colour or finish is central to the brief (particularly painted lacquer, framed shaker or an unusual colour), or you want the widest colour library in the industry. Newport, Casa, Gala and the full Schüller Colour Concept are the strongest reason to pick Schüller.

Common questions
- Which German kitchen brand is best?
- There is no single best. Nobilia is Europe's largest kitchen manufacturer, offers strong value at every price point and comes with a 10-year manufacturer warranty. Schüller offers the broadest colour library in the industry, is particularly strong on painted lacquer and framed shaker ranges, and comes with a 5-year manufacturer warranty. Both share 6 to 8 week UK lead times.
- Is Schüller better than Nobilia?
- Not universally. Schüller has a broader colour library and slightly finer finish tolerances on some ranges. Nobilia is typically 10 to 15% cheaper on a like-for-like mid-range specification and offers a wider handleless programme. The right answer depends on your budget, style and colour brief.
- Are there other German kitchen brands I should consider?
- Häcker, Bauformat and Rotpunkt are the credible alternatives. We chose to specialise in Nobilia and Schüller specifically because between them they cover the widest style, budget and finish range: one senior designer can handle any UK brief without switching supply chains.
- Should I choose by brand or by range?
- By range. The differences between (for example) Nobilia Pura and Nobilia Look are much larger than the differences between Nobilia Laser and Schüller Elba at similar price points. Start with the style and budget, and let the range shortlist itself.
