About the Schüller Elba range.

Best suited to

  • Loft-style and open-plan extensions with concrete or microcement finishes
  • Stone-look kitchens without the cost or weight of real stone
  • Warm travertine schemes as well as cool industrial greys
  • Price group 1 budgets wanting an architectural front

Elba is Schüller's architectural stone and concrete programme, a hard-wearing laminate that reproduces the surface of poured concrete and honed travertine. Five finishes span cool concrete greys, a warm slate sand and travertine tones, which gives the range unusual reach: the same front can read cold and loft-like or warm and Mediterranean depending on which finish you pick.

Concrete-effect fronts have a specific advantage over real concrete or stone cladding. They weigh a fraction as much, so they need no structural allowance, they are non-porous so they do not stain from oil or wine, and they cost a small fraction of the real thing. The trade-off is that they are a reproduction, and up close a trained eye will see it. In a full kitchen at normal viewing distance, most people do not.

In UK homes Elba is most effective in an open-plan extension where the kitchen sits against microcement, exposed brick or large-format porcelain flooring. It pairs well with matt black or gunmetal tapware and with a warm timber breakfast bar to stop the scheme reading cold. Travertine finishes work in the opposite direction, giving a soft warm neutral that suits brass ironmongery. Elba is a price group 1 front available in handled and handleless configurations, rigid built and delivered fully assembled with a 5 year Schüller guarantee.
