Best suited to
- Powdery neutrals, chalky whites and muted pastels
- Period properties with painted panelling and cornicing
- Classic-contemporary kitchens in a single colour
- Strong colours that need softening rather than sharpening
Cameo is a softly painted handled satin lacquer front in all 28 Colour Concept shades at price group 5. The word softly is doing real work in that description. The front is finished with a gentler, more diffused surface than the other satin programmes, which suits pale and powdery colours in a way that a crisper lacquer does not.
That makes it the natural choice for the delicate end of the Colour Concept palette. The chalky off-whites, the pale putty and clay neutrals, the muted dusty pinks and soft greys all gain something from the softened surface, reading as though they have been hand-painted and then knocked back rather than sprayed. In a period property with original cornicing and painted panelling, that is precisely the effect people are usually trying to buy and rarely get from a factory kitchen.
It works equally well at the confident end. A deep colour on a soft satin front loses the hardness it would have on a flat lacquer, so a strong red or a deep blue reads as considered rather than loud. Cameo is a handled front, which suits the classic-contemporary direction it is designed for, and knobs, cup handles or slim bars all sit comfortably on it. It is a strong candidate for a whole-kitchen specification rather than a two-tone, since the interest comes from the surface rather than from contrast. Cabinets arrive rigid built and fully assembled, with soft-close hinges and drawer runners and the 5 year Schueller guarantee.
